She grew up and completed her studies in the same city. She went to St. Pauls’s Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Mayiladuthurai. Hema pursued her higher studies MCA in AVC College in Mayiladuthurai.

She then appeared as an anchor on the channel Peppers Tv. Hema acted in the serial Ponnunjal and Vidhi Telecasted on Sun Tv. She got an opportunity to do a short role in the movie Paayum Puli starring Visual and Kajal Agarwal in the lead roles.
This movie is directed by Suseenthiran. She then appeared in short roles in many Kollywood movies including Aaradhu Sinam, Ivan Yarendru Therigiradha and Savarakathi.
She then acted in the famous serial Chinnathambi. She is currently appearing in the serial Pandian Stores. In this serial, she portrays a role in the name Meena.
