Udayabanu (a.k.a) Rahul Thatha has moved to Chennai in the year of 1963 from Nagapattinam. He worked as a hotel server, housekeeping, gardener, and many jobs for several years.

During the time of working in a hotel as a server, he got an opportunity to interact with some prominent movie actors and technical artists. With such contacts, he got an opportunity to work in the office of MGR.

He featured in many Tamil movies as a junior artist. unnoticed and small character roles for more than 15+ films with MGR which includes Uzhaikkum Karangal, Idhayakkani, Rickshawkaran, and many.

He acted along with all top Tamil stars including Sivaji Ganeshan, Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Ajith Kumar, Vijay, Dhanush, and more. He serves in film industry for more than 58 years.

In 2015, he got an opportunity to play a character role in Vijay Sethupathi’s ‘Naanum Rowdy Dhaan‘. His character named Rahul Thatha was a huge hit among the audience. Following the film, he also featured in Tamil movies including Gorilla, Natpuna Ennanu Theriyuma, Ghajinikanth, Capmaari, Hero, and more.
