Indian drops to fifth spot after series defeat against South Africa – WTC Points Table

On Friday, Team India’s hopes of winning the Test series against South Africa on their home soil were dashed. Moreover, South Africa had a winning advantage in the WTC 2021-23 point table.

The Indian team lost the third Test at Cape Town against South Africa. A defeat in the World Test Championship point table (WTC 2021-23). On Friday, India lost by 7 wickets.

South Africa won the three-match series 2–1. India’s hopes of winning the Test series in South Africa were dashed once again. In the WTC 2021-23 points table, South Africa has profited.

In the current points standings, India ranks fifth with 49.07 percent. South Africa is ranked #4 with 66.66 percentage points. Previously, India was ranked #4. South Africa was ranked fifth. Sri Lanka currently leads the WTC 2021-23 points standings, followed by Australia.

India’s 7-wicket defeat vs South Africa

South Africa set 212 runs for victory in the third Test on Friday, losing three wickets. Keegan Pietersen (113), 82 runs from balls, was key. On the third day, he had a 78-run partnership with skipper Dean Elgar (30).

On the fourth day, Pietersen and Rossi van der Dussen added 52 runs to derail India’s aspirations (41 not out). Van van Dussen and Temba Vavuma (32 not out) had a 57-run stand.

India had a chance to win the Test series in South Africa. They won the first Test by 113 runs at Centurion but lost the second by seven wickets in Johannesburg. Hence, India lost the Test series in South Africa. In 2010-11, India has tied the test series 1-1.

Team India will be playing the One Internationals (ODI) under the captaincy of KL Rahul. The three-match series will begin on January 19th. The newly appointed captain Rohit Sharma has been ruled out due to injury, hence VC KL Rahul will lead the team for the first time in ODI.
