Board of Cricket India (BCCI) on Wednesday has announced that Jayant Yadav And Navdeep Saini has been included in India’s ODI squad for the South Africa series. Off-spinner Washington Sundar has been dropped from the team due to a Corona infection.
Instead of Washington Sundar Jayant Yadav has been included as an off-spinner. Saini has been included as a back-up for fast bowler Mohammad Siraj. He is recovering from a hamstring injury sustained in the second Test. Sundar was to travel to Cape Town on Wednesday along with the ODI members and join the rest of the team ahead of the ODI series starting January 19.

Jayant is already in South Africa as part of the Test squad, while Saini has been named standby for the team. “Team India off-spinner Washington Sundar has not been selected for the upcoming one-day series against South Africa due to being found corona positive,” the BCCI said in a statement.
“Sundar was scheduled to travel to Cape Town on Wednesday along with the rest of the ODI team members to join the rest of the team for the ODI series starting January 19,” it said. The five-member selection committee headed by former pacer Chetan Sharma chose Jayant over Sundar.
Siraj has been battling a hamstring injury he suffered during the second Test against South Africa in Johannesburg. The first match of the ODI series will be played on 19 January in Paarl, the second on 21 January in Paarl, and the third in Cape Town.
